Removable Labels
Removable type labels fall into two distinct categories: Standard Removable Labels and Ultra Removable Labels.
Standard Removable Labels
This category of removable labels is primarily concerned with "some removability" even if the label comes off in two or more pieces from its surface. Basically it needs to act somewhat as a permanent label and adhere well, but does not want to to be so aggressive so that it needs to be scraped off with a knife or treated with some kind of goo remover. Much will depend on the type of surface to be labeled when determining the type of removable adhesive that will be called for. These removable adhesives are often lighter coat weights or variants of permanent adhesives and frequently become more permanent over time. This degree of removability is preferred for automatic roll label application at high speeds because labels remain more stable on the release liner as ithey travel through the labeling process.
Ultra Removable Labels
When a label is designed to be repositioned; for temporary application; or for absolute clean release, it will definitely require testing on the surface to be labeled. These newer, specially designed adhesive constructions have entered the realm of custom printed labels since they can be die cut to any shape on a liner like all typical roll labels, They are fully adhesive coated for the appropriate application requirement. Good examples are the removable coupons found on products, mailers, and newspapers.
While Post-ItŪ takes its name from the typical note pieces we are familiar with, these adhesives are different and not limited to papers. As with any custom printed labels they can be fashioned into striking advertising vehicles as MylarŪ labels, metalized labels, clear labels, vinyl labels or labels made of other substrates such as holographics and fluorescents. Because foil labels are prone to a curl memory, they are only offered as permanent labels.
