Foil Labels & Mylar Labels
Foil labels provide outstanding visual
impact and can be made available in silver or gold as well as shiny or matte
foils. In addition, foil labels offer an opacity which is unequaled for
blocking light and also allow for embossing characteristics.
Foil labels have the added quality of withstanding harsh conditions, particularly when laminated. When foil labels do not provide the degree of durability needed or if their memory is too rigid, the alternative use of metalized mylar labels should be considered.
Instead of foil labels it may be necessary to use mylar labels because of extremes in temperature or for durability requirements where the effect of the metallic brilliance of foil labels is desired, but the characteristics of mylar (also known as polyester) is called for.
Mylar labels are made of one of the most durable of label materials. Polyester
also offers exceptional dimensional stability under many conditions. This
film, which comes in clear, white or metalized forms, is tear and puncture
resistant and will easily tolerate extremes of heat and cold.
Mylar labels supplied with the appropriate pressure sensitive adhesive
formulation will meet or exceed a 2 year performance life in most harsh
