Label Printing Information - Preparation

  1. It is necessary to use Illustrator, Freehand, Quark, Photoshop, or other such programs, as your primary application, preferably on a Macintosh platform. (PC submissions in these applications may be acceptable, but could incur a conversion charge in some instances.) The reason for requiring these applications is that artwork manipulation for everything including trapping, bleeds, dot reductions, negative rips, distortions, and plating are all accomplished properly only in such graphic applications. Reworking inadequate label files, resetting corrupted fonts, determining the paths you have used, making additions or corrections to your disk, etc., is done at a charge of $30 per 20-minute segment for all computer time.
  2. Supply all fonts with your label printing files in order to avoid special type charges or delays. This includes fonts which have been altered or renamed. Please supply any supporting art that is used in your documents, such as EPS files, TIFF files, etc. Always include both screen and printer versions of each font used in your label work!
  3. It is important to submit at least 1 color copy with your digital media, together with any special instructions or information concerning unusual requirements for the job. Minimally, laser copies of the final version are acceptable. Individual print-outs of each color are most helpful on files which have been designed as 4-color process but otherwise intend to be printed as PMS colors. Show all paths.

Digital Artwork Submission Requirements

  1. If you submit your Macintosh files on CD, Zip/Jazz disk, or floppy disk, include a hard-copy print-out with it.
  2. Offset film cannot be used for flexographic plates. Good existing artwork can be scanned if it does not have any screen components.
  3. Please note that all arrangements, requests, and contacts relating to artwork must be handled through customer service to assure proper scheduling and quality control.
  4. All submissions that are incomplete, incorrect, or in unacceptable applications will incur minimum computer time charges for review and/or repair. Prior notice will be given.
  5. Send email files to support@renell.com and include a PDF file. This allows a double-check of details and guards against font corruptions not otherwise noticed. Alternatively, you may include files in EPS or TIFF formats. Contact us with any label printing questions about your artwork submission or preparation.
